How Will Invisalign Affect your Love Life?

Most people get Invisalign treatment to fix an issue they’ve had with their smile for a long time, maybe something that they would ordinarily feel insecure about on a first date. When they start Invisalign treatment and haven’t finished yet, they might feel that same insecurity.

Dating with Invisalign can come with some challenges, but there really isn’t anything to be anxious about. With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, here are some things you can keep in mind.

Invisalign is Very Discreet

You care for your aligners every day, so you’re much more acutely aware of them than anyone else will be. You might feel like it’s obvious that you’re wearing Invisalign, but the fact is that most people probably will not even notice that you’re wearing them if you don’t bring them up.

That’s especially true if your aligners are well-maintained. The better you take care of your trays, the harder they will be to detect. If you’re worried that your date is paying attention to your aligners, you can have some confidence in how well you’re taking care of your teeth.

You’ll Have to Consider When you Eat or Drink

Many people feel like a date isn’t complete without going to dinner; there’s a reason that every restaurant is booked out for Valentine’s Day weeks in advance. Going for coffee is another common date idea, and has something in common with a dinner date: you really shouldn’t be wearing your aligners while you do them.

Coffee can stain your trays, and eating with your aligners in is a quick way to damage them. If you want to do these things on a date, you should figure out when you’ll be able to take out and clean your Invisalign.

You Might Have a Little Trouble Talking

This is really only an issue just after you begin Invisalign treatment, but the aligners will change the way that your mouth feels when you talk. Many people say that this gives them a little bit of lisp. The best way to work through this is to practice; record yourself talking and speak slowly so that you can make the best impression on your big date.
